Schwimmen und Tauchen mit Walen ist auf den Azoren verboten. Es kann unter Angabe von speziellen Gründen mit einer Ausnahmegenehmigung (authorization n.° 04-ORAC-2016)  erlaubt werden. Diese Fotos sind Teil eines größeren Projektes, das sich mit den Lebewesen des mittelatlantischen Rückens von der Antarktis bis nach Island befasst. 

This work was performed under the authorization n.° 04-ORAC-2016 issued by the Government, on 6 May 2016. Precaution was taken to avoid disturbance to the animals during the execution of the operations.
According to the regional legislation, swimming with whales and other cetaceans that are not dolphins is forbidden in the Azores.
